Short-term Missions

Kevin Ng in Africa

Kevin Ng is currently in Africa serving as a medical missionary for seven weeks. Here is the latest update email from him:
Jambo!
I just wanted to let you all know I am alive and well. I have been in Kapsowar now for 3 days trying to find my place in the hospital and making new friends here. Most people in Kenya consider themselves to be either christian or catholic atleast according to the census. Also, many people speak English very well and I think I will have many opportunities to talk about Jesus. Life is very interesting here and I can't wait to tell you all more about it when I get back. Please continue to pray for me. It has been difficult at the hospital seeing young patients pass away while treating them with our limited facilities.
God bless,
Kevin Ng

Kenya

From December 1-14th, 2007, GCC sent out a team of doctors, a nurse practictioner, a social worker, and a dietician to Kasowar, Kenya to aid the Africa Inland Mission Hospital and other healthcare relief efforts. Armed with the Gospel and moved by the Holy Spirit, the team sought to be a blessing and reconcile traditional missionary work and their professions. Working with Dr. Steve Lee, an AIM missionary doctor and medical director, the team assisted with the care of the Marakwet hosital patients, set- up and ran mobile clinics in Tot mainly serving the Pokot people, and experienced a large teaching hospital in Kijabe. The missionary journey and experience was challenging, yet inspiring to all seven team members. Truly, God is good and desires to use us, profesisons and all, for His glory!

Ohio - Over the Rhine

This summer a team traveled to the Over the Rhine community in the inner city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the Rhine is a ten by fifteen block area that is stricken with homelessness, poverty, prostitution, and hopelessness. As our church's first trip out to the midwest, the team was excited about Cincinnati because God loves the residents of inner cities around the world and we wanted to be a part of God's movement. We participated in an evangelism weekend where we were equipped to share the love of Christ and had the opportunity to practice what we had learned. In addition, we served the community by offering children's Vacation Bible School, open- air evangelism, and practical home construction. We left for Ohio on July 19th and returned on July 28th. We hope to continue serving this area for years to come.
